Battery Manager Issues

Hi All,

The Droid X is my first Android Device and I have a question about Battery Manager>Battery Use. Basically, I'm not sure if my phone has a bug or something, but the only usage it ever displays for my battery is display and cell standby and phone idle. Display is always about 97% of the usage and the rest split among the other 2.

So my question is, what are other users seeing from Battery Use? I was expecting to see apps, talk time, etc. I streamed music for a good hour tonight which chewed up a good chunk of battery, yet display is the only usage statistic being picked up by the phone.

Mine is the same way, i just checked it i have the same 3 tings listed , i pulled it off the charger an hour ago and it's already down to like 90%
to me, or atleast mine since i've had it all of 2 days, it drains the first 10 - 20% real quick then it takes forever to drain the rest

I only ever get the following 4 things in my list:

Voice Calls
Display
Cell Standby
Phone Idle

Usually its spread fairly evenly, save for Phone idle which can be pretty low like <10%, but the other 3 are pretty high up.

I used to be able to do this:

Charge phone to 100%, unplug and immediately turn screen off with phone in Airplane mode and Battery Profile in Smart Mode. Wake up 8 hours later to a 100% charge still.

Lately I've been doing the same thing and waking up to 70% charge :( what gives?

Ah, alright so it seems like the monitoring service is being rolled up into the display category for the most part.

Adjust your screen brightness to around 20%. Auto is nice but it will kill the battery. I use a widget called "Brightness Level" I think, it has an auto setting and you can change the percents. Yesterday went from 6:00 am off the charger at 0% brightness in battery saver mode and at 7:00 pm battery was at 70%.

Most likely more apps running in the background that are using memory which translates to power consumption. My advice would be to eliminate apps you don't use if you're concerned about this.

Is there a better battery manager that we can dl that will show how much battery background programs use?

I would really like to get one of these too, something that shows how much battery each app is draining.

The thing is I run ATK and have any important app (basically all the apps that I know I need to run constantly) on the ignore list and kill off any app I know I don't need. So there really isn't anything running at all. I am very clean when it comes to how I run my devices and am pretty tech savvy so I know its not me being a nooby here.

Its just strange, its almost as if the phone isn't holding a full charge anymore. Like 100% to the phone now was the equivalent to say 50% 2 weeks ago. Its so wierd...

you have to use other apps to get the full picture of what's eating your battery. my top pick is system panel, the free version is great, but the paid version has a superb monitoring function that shows you all cpu usage of every app.

OS monitor is also a good tool to use, its free on the market.

and spare parts is free on the market and gives more battery info.

personally system panel gives all the info I need. but using multiple apps to troubleshoot gives you the larger picture.
