I put my phone on the charger every night to charge. On weekends i get up and i leave my phone on the charger and play games, surf, etc,. for a few hours before i take it off the charger, I also use the phone when i first plug it in while it is charging

Is this a bad thing or an okay thing to do as far as the battery goes. i figure using the phone with it on the charger is keeping the battery charged to full.

I do the same as you. I watch Netflix at work and keep my 3d plugged in to save the charge.

the battery has built in circuits so that it will stop charging when full and drop down a bit before recharging. The light would remain green, but if you use "battery monitor widget " or similar, then you will see that the phone goes into a charge discharge cycle even when plugged in.

That's kinda been a long standing enigma in the forums. It's perfectly normal to cycle like that on a usb charger but tons of people still think their devices are problematic when they see the battery drain a few ticks, while using it while plugged to charge.

the stock battery display in the notification bar has a dead zone between 90-100, so it isn't really a problem there, but if you have some other widget that shows battery percentage, then yes, it will drop a few percent and then recharge again.

although, imo, if it's full, i think it's best to take it off the charger. i also don't leave the phone on the charger overnight. because it would just cycle charge discharge. you are still using up some of the battery's useful life, though not much. you are also wasting a small amount of electricity, though not much either. what good does it really do when really, i only lose 5-10% overnight on my ext bat. i don't think that remaining at or near 100% is the best for the battery all the time.

anyway, off of the soap box, really it doesn't matter that much.
