My phone overheated last night to over 60 degrees celsius while on 4G. I'm wondering if that caused battery damage and if I should go into Verizon to get the battery replaced.

The fact that your phone went over 140 Deg F/60 Deg C is never good. I would go to Verizon and have that thing checked out. It should never, ever go that high in temperature.

It's not necessary @ this point. Sometimes this does happened, in fact..it happened to me awhile back while streaming & downloading at the same time. Several things could have caused this problem. However, if the device is getting too hot while doing the simplest thing, then you might wanna have it checked out. As for knowing the health of your battery, you could installed a battery widget from the market. It should have an option that shows you about your battery health and more.

PS. Phones do have a tendency of getting quite warm sometimes. That doesn't necessarily means the phone or battery are defective.
