I am relatively new to android. Some of the screen shots on the inc I have seen show the battery icon on the screen replaced by a percentage of battery life. How do I install this program or is it a setting. I am rooted on 2.2. Thanks for any help?

just curious as to why you are rooted as a newbie? I hope you know why your are rooted. There are many apps in the market that show battery life as a percent. I use battery widget. I like to know exactly how much I have left, and that little indicator at the top is worthless, and I don't want to have to open my settings to check. It's free, and it's a widget not an app, so when you download it, you will not find it in your apps. You have to long press the screen, add widget, and it should be the second or third one down.

Agreed, why would you root as a newbie, that's just asking to
screw up your phone and lose warranty.

Rooting isn't that hard and if you can follow simple direction you shouldn't brick your phone. I have exchanged to prior phones that were rooted and Verizon has never said a thing.

I'm not disagreeing that its become extremely simple with unrevoked3
but the big question is why risk it as a newbie before you even experience
much with it stock first? Especially considering the possibility
of causing permanent damage.

Uncommon sense shows the percentage on the battery indicator in the task bar, no secondary program needed if all you want is to see the percentage.
