Battery percentage problems

On my mum's S3 mini there was no option to show the battery percentage do I downloaded a battery percentage app for her from Google play. When mum charges her phone the app says 100% battery still charging but the phone will say to unplug the charger as it's 100% when she takes it off charge the app says the battery is 97% straight away without doing anything.

Any idea what's going on?

Have you let the phone charge to the point where the app says it is done?

She charged it over night one time & the same thing happened.

Might be an error in the battery app. Does it happen with others?

No other phones have it as my S4 has the battery percentage in the phone. The reviews are good for the app.

does it heat up a lot? charge it overnight a lot?

if so, that's how.

Don't think it heats up a lot think it's about the same as my S4. Only charged it over night a few times not much. I charge my S4 over night every night & my battery is fine & I've had my phone longer than mum's had her one.

Thought the phone would stop charging when it reaches 100%?
