It has a 5.7" 1440p LCD and an extra display powered on. Also if using the high impedance DAC more juice, since needs to push some amp power for high ohm headphones.
iPhone in part gets good battery life due to 1080p display. Less pixels to power and a lot less work for the GPU. Key reason most have moved to amoled.
Best though to compare to own use from previous device. Too many subjective factors to take any same device different user comparisons seriously. Makes epic thread reading (comedy), but still little to use as fact from real comparisons.
Still do not get why LG has not included hardware scaling. It would be a huge battery saver for any app like Chrome and most browsers, Maps and most games. The display would still look good and gain an hour of battery life. At least.
Again the test with the note 7 switching to 1080 saw no difference in battery life.More pixels means more work for the GPU. It does use more battery life. Android uses hardware acceleration for everything. So the GPU gets taxed more.
Not correct. Video streaming battery life tests and Display Mate tests clearly point out the 1440p LCD battery life drain compared to amoled. This is apparently the same tech as the V10, but even brighter.That is not true. Pixels do not use more power. Different display technology does and IPS LCD uses more power over AMOLED. The reason iPhones get better battery life is mainly because of the O/S. It does a great job with the hardware. Remember when they switched the Note 7 to 1080 mode, it had no effect on battery life.

A lot less math and power pushing 1080p. Graphic cards run much hotter and use more power at 1440p than 1080p. Harshly so.As I've stated elsewhere, scaling the resolution down on an LCD will make it look like junk. I've yet to see any LCD that looked good at anything but its native resolution.
I agree, running a lower resolution *may* increase battery life, but that also depends on other factors. When gaming on a computer, all running a lower resolution does is give you more frame rates. The processor and GPU are actually still running full speed. So unless the GPU is also being throttled at the lower resolution, then I wouldn't expect a change other than to see games run smoother.

yeah, I loved my V10, but the battery sucked. I had a spare battery but it got lame swapping it out every day. That's the only thing holding me back from a V20
