Battery rapid discharge started recently.

The past little while my tablet has not been holding a charge very long. In fact, sometimes it will be at 90% and then 3 minutes later it will show 45%, and then 5 mins later it is beeping at 10% complaining it needs to be charged.

It is two months past warranty. What are the common trobleshooting options available to me that I should try first?

It's 4.4.2

It seems a bit better after I cranked the brightness down and set it to auto. Not sure what is so "auto" about it. It just seems to stay permanently dimmed now.

Maybe I should just try the factory reset I think...

I've had the same issue. (See the picture below) I was under warranty the first time and I send it in they replaced the charge port but that did not fix it. The battery was then replaced and it worked for a week, but now has gone back to its old ways. Samsung isn't any help, they recommend I close background applications lol. I'm about to attempt a factory reset myself although I have little hope of that working.
