I generally charge my phone when it is around 20% but recently when i have been allowing it to go below 10, i found some weird issues. Battery drastically reduces from 6 to 1 within 1 or 2 minutes and once when i charged it when it was 1% , it became 6% within seconds. Could this be a problem with the battery?

Battery readings can become much less reliable as the charge drops that low, so it may not be a problem with the battery itself.

As a general rule of thumb, I usually don't let the battery get much below 30%. 20% is still a somewhat deep discharge, and with lithium batteries, the more frequently you do a deep discharge, the shorter the battery lifespan is. So I would suggest using 30-40% as your usual lower limit of charge.

I think we're talking a normal attribute of the Note 5. Anything below 20 or 15% can periodically shut the phone down within 3 to 5 minutes. Not always. Only sometimes. I just accept it as the cost of doing business. Doesn't seem to affect the phone otherwise.
