Battery usage question

When I left for work this morning @ 8am, I put my Moto Droid Maxx 2 in airplane mode . The battery was at 99 percent.

When I left work (now) to check messages,etc the battery is at 24 percent!

Do I have a lemon? Why would the battery be used up while the phone sat in my purse unused?

That is really strange. My Maxx 2 can go three or four days on a charge with light usage. If the phone is new I would maybe try to exchange it.

Was anything suspect when looking at the battery stats? A misbehaving app could have caused it. I also have had some weird battery drain issues when my contacts wouldn't sync for some reason and the phone just kept trying. So look at all your accounts to see if something is stuck.
