So as I get my notification telling me what's using the battery it says 46% is standby....... is this normal? I mean I have the light almost completely dimmed, I have wifi off at all times as well as GPS, and only 2 accounts that sync. What else can I do to extend battery life? The battery turned red at 11 hours.

Also I have had the phone for a month now with no issues at all. Until now. A few times now the phone shuts off and wont turn back on without pulling the battery. What's up with that?

Yes that's normal.

That's a known bug that is supposedly gonna get fixed with the first OTA, which is also rumored to be Gingerbread. No ETA on when it'll be out.

I get bad battery life, is there any tips/tricks that I can do to increase it. It lost ~30% overnight on standby. Does that seem right?

There is a bug in the stock ROM where the phone uses more than average power even when idle. A factory reset or 2 fixes this for most users.. Myself included. After that your idle drain should be normal.

So I unplugged it at 11am, a bit of web browsing and went to work, only unlocking it to check twitter updates for about 2 minutes and back into my pocket about every 1 hour or so. By 4pm, it was 50% with light use and that's with only 1 2 minute phone call from 11am til 4pm. It lost 10% on a 40 minute train ride while I was playing grand prix story. And now as I'm typing this, it's 25%. Is this normal? I feel like it's poor battery usage.

Seems a little high for idle usage. That much while you game is normal, though.

To be sure download Battery Monitor Widget. It will show you how much power your phone uses with a graph. If you see your phone using high mA even when idle you know you need to do a factory reset.

That's what I thought too. I was barely using it that day. That should be considered minimal usage. I only checked twitter updates for 2-5 minutes and back into my pocket it goes.

Thats the one.

Thank you. Installed it last night before I went to sleep. So I left the phone on idle thru the whole day from 11am to 11:45pm. I have turned on the screen like 4 times to just check the battery percent. It's battery percentage is now 54%. Is this considered normal? How can I take a screenshot of the graphs so I can post it for you guys to look at?

Yes that sounds normal. If you are running a Froyo based ROM or a GB that's not AOSP you can press home + power and it'll take a screenshot. If you're running an AOSP rom (CM7.1 or faux's AOSP) you'll need a screenshot app from the market.

No way.. that was only under edge speeds too. Must have activated it by mistake. Today from 11am to 11:20pm, haven't touched the phone at all and it was ~59% when I checked. I guess I'm thinking back to when I have my bold 9700 and how spoiled I was with the battery life. And what screenshot app is the most recommended?

Sounds normal to me. What were the mA readings during idle?

I came from a 9700 when I got my first android phone also. Takes some getting used to with the battery but itll happen.

I can't really say for sure. It's not constant. The range are between -11 and -39.

It will be hard getting to use to this. I'm guessing this means that if I have used the device for a short period of time, at the end of the day, the battery would have been much lower..

Hmm.. I dunno whats going on with your device. Could be a defective battery. Mine idles between 1-3 mA normally and if left idle my phone can go for days. On average I get about 9-10 hours of usage till dead (a little over 2 and a half hours of screen on time).

From all the countless threads around the net on battery life with this phone its pretty clear that bad battery life is due to one of the following..

1) software bug requiring a factory reset (was the case for me)

2) defective battery

3) unrealistic expectations of battery life

So if the reset didnt work for u I may start looking into getting a replacement battery.
