There are tons of topics regaurding android battery use, but I couldnt find one that answered my question. I am running Drews cm7 build, and am using setcpu and keeping the brightness on minimum. I also disable data when I am not using it (90% better battery life), but whenever i turn data on, it uses a lot of battery immediately. Ex: this morning i turned on data to refresh the launcher pro facebook widget. I was at 99% battery, with a few texts, a phone call, and used my phone as a clock a few times. After turning data on, it jumped to 93%. I am assuming I have way too many applications sucking up data, so my question is: Is there an application that selectively allows and blocks apps from using data? Sort of like a firewall? Maybe for people with a limited data plan? I hope it helps that im rooted.

My findings lead me to believe LauncherPro is the one behind draining the battery so much.

I tried LauncherPro on stock 2.2 rom long time ago. Had to uninstall it as it was draining my battery pretty fast. Got it out and battery back to old self.

Rooted my phone and got G-Rom installed. Gave Launcher Pro another try as I loved how smooth screen transitions are. My battery is draining very fast again.

Before LP I used to get 2.5 full days of battery. That involved lots of texts, few calls, and some browsing. After LP I only get 1 full day.
Im planning on doing some more tests. Wipe the phone, start clean, leave it with no LP for a week, then install it for a week. Post results.

Interesting... Please keep us posted. I use Launcher Pro and I'm very interested in hearing your results.

Well, in my experience LP hasn't done much to affect my battery usage. However, when I turn on 3G, my battery drains like no other. The PRL and everything has been updated, so that's not the issue. And I average 3-4 bars out of 5, so that's not too shabby. My optimus rocks on wifi, but when I'm not on wifi, I'm forced to turn off data all the time or else my battery will die quickly. Any explanation?

Exactly my problem. Wifi is fine, but something about 3g just ruins battery life.

Update. Uninstalled LP and still had battery drain. My phone idle drain was as much as my cell standby drain. That tells me something is running in the background. Uninstalled the last app i got, hotmail app. Phone back to normal now. 30% battery used since 6am.

Maybe ill try LP again.

When I was having battery drain problems, someone in the forums here (pretty sure it was Nick7) pointed me in the direction of post #31 of THIS THREAD. Somewhere around paragraph #6 it says "how to fix your battery drain problem".

It really helped me, maybe it could help you or someone else here.
