Have seen a lot of people recommend this (clearing Google Services Framework data, then trying Check for update over and over), and it's voodoo BS.

Well, um.... YES, I have. I also know how to spell his name.

Explanation: over on T-mobile support forums, there were a bunch of sea lawyers recommending this trick to hasten the arrival of OTA updates, some swearing on a stack of bibles that it worked, others swearing it didn't (but "gee, suddenly my Play Store is broken"), and a very very few saying "Um, maybe you shouldn't do that just on the say-so of some anonymous dudez on the Interwebs."
