Be wary of Gameloft games on ThunderBolt from Android Marketplace

FYI, I had a bad experience buying a recent Gameloft game on the Android Marketplace.
Tread carefully, or you'll get swindled.

I purchased Modern Combat 2: Black Pegasus
The game lists "HTC ThunderBolt 4G" under it's list of supported devices.
After installing and running, the game indicated that to complete the install I needed to download content via WiFi. I didn't have a WiFi connection readily available at that time, so I got a refund on the game.
Several days later, while at a cafe with WiFi access, I attempted to purchase and install the game a 2nd time. Big mistake.
After installing, then connecting to WiFi, the game informs me that my device isn't supported and to request a refund. But the Market won't refund an app purchased twice.

Looks like Gameloft found a cash cow, by tricking people into downloading the game twice, so you can't get a refund. Talk about bait and switch...
Oh well. I have a ticket open with Gameloft. We'll see what happens. Several people with ThunderBolts claim that the game is working for them. Not sure why it's not working for me. I'm running a stock unaltered Thunderbolt.

I just downloaded the game yesterday and ran into the same issue where is says that the Thunderbolt is not supported. I ignored the error and restarted the game. No error the second time around. Looks like a bug.

Game is GREAT! Love it.

Hi Gold,

My son ran into a problem like that when purchasing a game from the Market place for gameloft, what I did was followed their email procedures and also did a follow up call and because it was not compatible they sent a different game he liked via his phone free of charge since that incident him and I only purchase games directly from gameloft, so far I have Avatar, Assasins Creed, Dungeon Hunters HD, The settlers and eternal legacy and they all run great. Try contacting them via phone they are open monday thru friday excluding holidays and weekends. Hope this helps. BTW let me know once it is straightened out if you like the game.

Don't be stupid...restart the app...exit, open and it'l work...its a bug...don't just blame gameloft...its a bug.

Why are you assuming that I only tried once?
I tried various combinations of closing and restarting the app multiple times with either WiFi connection already enabled or enabling when prompted. I tried at least 15 times Saturday at the cafe.
After enabling WiFi and running the game, it ALWAYS displays "device not supported, ask for refund"...

I'm going out this afternoon, so I'll try again at another WiFi hotspot.

Why wouldn't I blame Gameloft? I bought a game they claimed worked on the Thunderbolt, and it doesn't work on mine at all.

Tried to launch the game again at a cafe with WiFi, but still get the same messages when I enable WiFi. This is the third WiFi hotspot I've tried to use to get it to download the files via WiFi from within the game. Have only gotten an automatic reply from the Gameloft email system so far. They're probably off for the holiday. At least it's a beautiful day today...

(before connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot):
"Download must be performed through a Wi-Fi connection and we did not detect any connection activated. Do you want to configure your Wi-Fi connection now?"
(after connecting to a Wi-Fi hotspot):
"Your device is not compatible with this game.
Please request a refund."

Force closing and relaunching didn't help. Still shows the same messages.

I've never had a problem installing games purchased from other developers. And $6.99 is a lot to pay for something that doesn't work.

Gameloft will refund you...Try their customer service...then come back here and let us know how it worked out for you :)

Luckily, Gameloft got a version working for me, but I had to call a customer service rep.
Was a little annoyed that they never replied to my emails requesting support and that I needed to call during the daytime on a week day to resolve this.
The tech on the phone seemed to be confused when I gave them the Marketplace Google Order ID.
He told me that I wasn't in the system even though I have a credit card charge email showing Gameloft charged me for the game.
Seems that their customer service reps aren't yet able to look up orders from the Marketplace.

The game is a lot of fun. Would have played it more, but went on a trip to Niagara last weekend.
