Bedside Mode too dim

With the RAZR in the "HD Dock" (the $50 one), as the display "times out", it goes to a clock...which is what I want in bedside mode. But I can't find out how to set the brightness for that clock.

You can set the brightness for the display when you wake it up, but I can't find a similar setting so that I can easily see the time in the middle of the night.

Anyone find this?

Thanks,
AJ

First tap the screen, so that it shows you the time, weather, etc (Bedside home screen). Then tap the menu button on the Razr, and then select Dock Settings. 1st option listed is Nighttime brightness. Select it and you can adjust it to any brightness you want.

Did you try that? I think that's the one I tried. It only adjusts the brightness of the display when you wake the phone (i.e. tap the screen and it shows the weather, date, tunes-icon, etc.). It doesn't affect when the screen times-out.

I believe you are right. It seems to only adjust the brightness of the Beside home screen. I even went so far as going into the phone's display settings and turning off power saver and set brightness to full but got the same reaction. I am guessing that the brightness is a fixed setting within the app. I might go look at the Bedroom app on the market (since it has an adjustable brightness). If you find something different, let me know.

I just went and looked at the Bedside app online. It has great features.

If anyone has this, can you tell me if you can set the clock to stay on the entire time (no timeout)?

There's a "feature" that says it goes off until you tap the screen "to prevent burn in". That's an interesting point, as I was told that I shouldn't worry about burn in for the lifetime of a smartphone. Maybe I'll suggest a mode where the numbers move (extremely slowly) around the display just so they don't stay in one place 100% of the time?

I use the Bedside app. I don't watch it all night (obviously) but it does stay on the entire time. I use it in place of an alarm clock and often look to it during the night. It's always on.

I should also add, I've used this app since the day the OG Droid came out, and I've never had it cause a problem on my phone. I think the time changing is enough to prevent any "burn in" (if that's even an issue anymore).

If it works the same as the Bionic when you are in the Dock you can hit settings and slide the brightness of the clock that stays on the screen.

You can't burn these phones by having something on them all the time. I used a Dock with nothing moving for 2 years no problem.

I use a clock app called Kaloer Clock. It's free, very customizable and won't dim if you don't want it to. It's a great app.

Sent from my Droid, the only mobile OS that matters.
