Would it be worth it to pop a bigger SD card into the Optimus V? For apps, music, and such.

If so, wheres a good place to buy it?
What size/class do I need?

The benefits of a larger SD card are always noticeable. Try new egg, always good deals. Ratings are important, some people think maybe they'll get lucky, no, reviews are always pretty accurate. Look for an sdhc card above class 7. I bought an 8gb class 10 card about a year ago from new egg, still works perfect.

A few months ago, Circuit City was liquidating its sales through Amazon. I bought an AData 16GB class 6 micro sd card for ~$30. Its worked great for storing and playing apps that need data transfered at a high rate. Hope I helped.

I already had a 16 gig card when I bought my phone, but the 2 gig would be more than enough for apps for awhile. A cheap alternative if your only need for more space is music is to get the amazon mp3 app. You get 5 gigs of free storage and you can stream the music strait to your phone.

Well I got the phone today, and after playing around with it; onboard+ the 2gig isnt going to last me the week... so I need a relatively fast, relatively spacious microsd(hc) card...

I'm not asking you guys to do my shopping; I just want to know whats the best class to get, the best company to buy from?

Atm newegg has a good deal on a 8gb REAL class 10. I know 4 people that ordered this exact item from newegg and the rated speed is correct. I ordered one for myself.

Newegg.com - ADATA 8GB Class 10 Micro SDHC Flash Card Model AUSDH8GCL10-R

I dont advise the use MLC flash memory in cell phones they tend to fail fast. Cards over 8gb tend to be MLC unless they are expensive. This is an SLC card which is more reliable and real fast at a great price.

Are you sure about the MLC/SLC issue with respect to 8/16GB MicroSDHC cards? I have a Patriot Memory 16GB w/ 5 year warranty, about $25 from Amazon. For SSD 2.5" drives they make the M/SLC info readily available, but it's REALLY hard to find that info for MicroSDHC cards.

Toshiba blurb: the 10,000 cycles of MLC NAND is sufficient for a wide range of consumer applications. A 10,000 write cycle endurance would enable customers to completely write and erase the entire contents once per day for 27 years, well beyond the life of the hardware.

Yes, the manufacturers greatly exaggerate the life of tech products like this but hopefully it'll last at least 5 years. Reminds me of the MTBF specs that HD manufacturers publish.

Not doubting what you are saying, it does make sense. Just wondering how to be positive about which MicroSD cards are SLC or not. In any event, it's mostly music and movies on my MicroSD, if I get 5 years out it'd be OK. A pain to have to reload everything, but then it's an excuse to get a 32GB MicroSD and by that time prices should have come down :)

I've got a 32gig class 2 and with data2ext i still have 15 gigs free with all my music. And it's a SanDisk so it'll last forever.

Stick with the 2 gig for just apps, as the lack of internal memory will not take advantage of anything bigger than that. For music, expand up to a 16 gig, as nothing larger than that will be compatible with your phone, probably due to the file system that LG employs on the Optimus series of phones

I have to bring this back up because everything I've looked at on Newegg; Class6+ seems to come with a death certificate. I see anything from 1week - 6months of life expectancy.

If anyone has a good, fast, Class6+, 8GB+ card, I would really like a link.

That one looks very good :D

I'm looking for a 16GB though, honestly. I need something for a lot of music, with a lot of speed that wont fail me.

I wound up buying the A-Data 16GB Class 6... I mean, its cheap enough that Im not going to cry if it breaks, and its under warranty.

If anything, that Transcend 8GB will be my weapon of choice.

Unless you're going to store a lot of media I recommend a smaller class 6 card.

Class 6 cards have given me significantly higher performance, and a smaller filesystem means less chance of error and higher random access times.

I'll be using it for a lot of music and things, so the 16GB was a must. If anything, the 8GB suggested above is pretty darn cheap; so if anything...
