Before it gets launched through a window, somone please... help

I got my Samsung S4 in September, I don't use it hard, occasional texts throughout the day, check facebook and that, nothing major... recently the battery seems to drop FAST, like after three hours... and now it's started to crash, and it won't fire up again unless it's connected to the charger. The battery graphic once plugged in shows 50% battery so that's baffling. More annoyingly is the constant crashing.. that was up until last friday, despite having been registered with the vodafone network, now I'm not, and it won't register, I get the spinny wheel of death and nothing more.

Anyone got any advice for me!?

I'd rather not go through the palaver... i need this one to work...while I don't use it so much, i do need to have it with me...I travel a lot with work,
