So I got a cool new toy, A smartwatch.... Got it set up and happy. Are there any BENEFITS TO THE WATCH for having it as a "Trusted Device"?

From what I understand, with a "trusted device" near the phone, I do not have to use my fingerprint to open my phone.... Is that the only benefit, or can the watch benefit from the phone being unlocked as well?

thanks in advance,
Mike

That's the benefit. If you've already granted your watch all of its permissions, then it'll pull notifications and app data from the phone as necessary, regardless of whether it's locked or not.

It's a pretty nice benefit. Assuming that your watch and phone are usually in the same place, it means you never have to bother with the unlock. But once they get separated (the most important situation being someone stealing your phone), then the lockscreen becomes active, protecting your data.
