Best Android Phone Option?

My upgrade comes the end of November and I will be coming back to Android. Verizon is my carrier. I wanted to know my best option(s) for a new phone with good/excellent camera and timely updates combined, if there is one. Give me your picks.

The only one I can think of is the M8. HTC gave a statement that they will have updates ready at worst 3 months after Android L is released. Now, Verizon will add time to that as they will add their own apps to it and such.

As far as I know, Verizon isn't getting the new Moto X (I could very well be wrong) and most likely won't be carrying the new Nexus, so unfortunately, that eliminates devices that would get quick updates.
