Wow. That's a really broad question that I don't know if there is an answer to.
The HTC Vivid was a really good phone 2 years ago when it was new, but by today's standard it's pretty weak.
Regarding battery life. That's a common complaint with all Android phones. The things that draw people to Android (big screens, multitasking, home screen widgets, LTE) are the same things that eat up a lot of battery life. There are things you can do to help battery life, but you'll probably never get iPhone like battery life without buying a big battery or rooting your phone and making some internal changes.
Now what the best Android phone? I think most people would agree that the Samsung Galaxy S 3, HTC One X/Evo LTE if you're on Sprint (and to a lesser extent the One S), and the Galaxy Nexus (more because of software than hardware) are the "best" phones avaible right now. There are also some decent offerings from Motorola, LG, and Sony ... but the GS3, OneX, and GNex are the cream of the crop.
The thing with Android is (unlike iPhone) there is a lot of choice. So you need to do your research and figure out what the best phone for you is. Maybe you want a smaller screen, or a slide-out keyboard, or really good battery life (e.g. Droid Razr Maxx), or maybe you're on a budget. Just like with everything else (including the iPhone), no Android phone will do everything well; there are always trade-offs.
