Best app for auto on /off...

I want my phone to turn off automatically when I put it in my pocket and on when I take it out.
I've tried a few but they all had there own issues.

Turn off the phone? As in, to power down? Not sure you'll accomplish that. Did you mean turn off the screen? Turn off sound? What do you want to turn off?

What's the point of turning the phone off and carrying it in your pocket? You won't receive calls.

Sorry! Poor choice of words! I meant I want the SCREEN to turn off and on of course!

Settings>display>keep screen turned off? This keeps screen off when in a dark place like pocket or purse. Only thing I can think of. Do you have any kind of lock enabled?... FPS, pin, password?

This only works when you manually turn the screen off BEFORE you put it in your pocket. That's one of the reasons I'm trying to find a way to not have to use the power button so much.

I don't understand what's so difficult about pressing the lock button after using it before putting it in your pocket.

I am not sure any app actually exists that does what you want. I know you can do this on Tasker using proximity sensor as the trigger to lock, but I don't think it's such a good idea.

For one, a smudge on your screen over the sensor would lock it, and until you notice that smudge, your phone will be unusable no matter what you do. Also, in the event that the proximity sensor may get broken or if software acts up, phone again is unusable.

Try the security option to use your FPS to turn the screen on and off.

Except that's not really a concern. My Galaxy S1 lasted 6 years without any concern on preserving that button and when it died the power button was working fine. The only damage was it got wet. I used to use it for my second phone line.
