is there a way to have the camera just read them or do you have to have a app do it?
there should be a way to just have one app do all pictures and scan anyone know of one or a way to do it with camera now?

you have to have an app to do it.
The camera app does not look for barcodes, its merely a camera app. The barcode scanner apps do look for the bar codes and then the app decodes them.
Imagine if someone wanted to take a pic of a bar code but all the camera app did was tell them what the bar code was.. so theres an app for that. LOL
