Hey guys, first post. I have never bought a phone from a store that was not an actual phone retailer. I have had really bad experiences with Best Buy and i mean very bad, and have had many. So my question is, if i pre order from Best Buy, am i tied to them for any reason, and if anything happens can i just go to a regular verizon store?

short answer: yes, you shoud be able to go to verizon for any hardware or service based reason that they would normally cover.

if you have to return the device though (not exchange for defect) i would assume they would have you go back to bby.

if you need to exchange because the device is defective, they shouldn't have an issue doing it (you might have to call their support number and they'll do it via mail.) but if you want to change it for something else in the 30 days, then you'll probably have to go to best buy

Generally speaking, with most "Corporate vs Indicrect" this is the jist:
- If you have an issue in the first 30 days then you'll go back to wherever you purchased it. In this case Best Buy as you're covered by the 30 day warranty (or whatever your device is). Since during that period it falls under the 30 day satisfaction guarantee which is handled by the purchased location.

- If you have an issue outside the return warranty then you will contact Verizon directly and they will handle it (either by store replacement, or ship you a phone. Whatever their policy is... I'm new to VZN).

the only advantage of going to best buy (in my eyes) is the instant rebate. but then again, if you're not in a huge rush to get the phone, you could order it online from verizon and get the instant, but you wouldn't get it on friday... :)

Just put a deposit down for the Driod at Best Buy. The guy told me as long as it was returned in "perfect" condition there would not be any restocking fee. I am hoping I won't have to go down that road!

I have another Best Buy question......I have 4 phones on my VZW account and my daughter's is due for her NE2 but I want the Driod for myself. Will Best Buy let me use her NE2 and let me use her renewal? I know the Verizon store will let me do that, but wasn't sure if I am going to have to be creative Friday when I get the Driod. Might have to put the Driod on her number and then switch it over to mine myself. Just a hassle to do it that way, but either way I can do it.

it shouldn't be a problem, since her line is already active, essentially they would just extend her contract, and discount the phone, for renewalls, the activation process of the phone shouldn't be linked really to the purchase.

but then again, it's best buy, and who knows what creative ways they could find to screw something like that up. ;)

You are right. I prefer to buy all my phones like these directly from Verizon, but since Best Buy does the instant rebate, I am going with them. I will work it out one way or another.

In my experience, No. Customers come in to my store all the time and tell me they were not able to. Best Buy is indirect. They don't do things the Verizon way.

I'm sorry, what I meant was that Best Buy doesn't give you the NE2 credit at all.

You want to do an alternate upgade and use the NE2. Just go to a corp store. I'm not sure if they will even do the alternate upgrade

they will do the alternate upgrade. on the NE2 the only other time I bought a phone there I was a tfirst told that no they couldnt and I asked them to ask a manager and he did it. Either because they could always do it or he did want to lose the sell im not sure. I have a upgrade do but not a NE2 so its not a problem this time

Most stores should have all of the demos set up by today or tomorrow morning. I do not think that they will be displayed but you should be able to ask a sales rep to see it and they would be more than happy to show it.
