Best calendar

Next calendar is pretty nice. Cal by any.do is too. I still use stock Google though.

I've been using the stock google calendar and have been pleasantly surprised.

I've also used Cal by any.do and Sunrise calendar.

Stock calendar is good, but I have varying shifts throughout the month and need a monthly view of things.

I liked Samsung's calendar widget app for this reason - that i could see my work schedule from a monthly view, but obviously after moving to nexus I lost this feature. There are lot of good apps as mentioned above, but for what I need - which is to see my monthly schedule quickly, I use aCalendar. It's not as pretty as Samsung but the only app I have found out there with a monthly widget that can show info on the widget (rather than a dot or date highlighted).

I always liked that about Samsung's calendar widget too.

Simple Calendar Widget Pro syncs with Google calendar and has an agenda format that is clean and easy to read. I set up an additional home screen (via Nova Prime) and keep the large Simple Calendar Widget on that screen. If you click on it, it will take you to the month view of Google calendar. By itself, though, it provides a nice overview of the upcoming week(s).

That's really interesting because I always hated Samsung's calendar. I never thought about it being good for broad overviews of months. I use the calendar hour by hour and need the ability to change days quickly so I LOVE the stock google calendar app. One widget that I like on my Samsung tablet is Calendar Widget: Month & Agenda by IT Benefit. It work great for my use but might not work well for yours.

I went through a few until I found Calendar Widget: Month + Agenda. I wanted a calendar widget that showed a month, and seamlessly integrated with Google. Here's what it looks like, as I have it customized.

I miss Samsung's month view calendar too. There are words on the days so you know that events are upcoming for the entire month at a glance. As oppose to other month calendars that just give a check or a line indicating there's an event. You have to click the day to see what's happening on that day.
Edit: DigiCal Calendar looks promising.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Business Calendar 2. Their latest free iteration is the best: Material Design-ish, scrollable month view, tons of options. They have a Pro option for more advanced features. Highly recommended to give it a try.
