Best deals without trade-in over the past year

So I just jumped on the Best Buy deal. Which was $300 off the XL and $150 off the regular with no trade in required. I got the XL and traded in my 7+. My girlfriend has been thinking about switching to Android with the regular Pixel but doesn't want to trade her iPhone in.

My question is for those that have bought one over the last year what has been the best deal you have seen that doesn't require a trade. We are debating on grabbing the Best Buy deal or waiting a bit to see if there might be a better deal closer to the release of the 3. But it seems most deals lately have required a trade or a new line of service. Money off the top with no stipulations is pretty rare.

I purchased my Pixel 2 XL 128gb model through Best Buy in the spring on a deal that was structured as a $100 instant price discount from Best Buy coupled with a $300 bill credit from Verizon (spread over 24 months). No trade-in was required, and in fact I kept my Moto X Pure Edition. Since we're longtime Verizon customers anyway, the bill credit worked as well as a price discount for me, so I'm ultimately paying $400 less than the retail price of the phone -- in effect, it cost me $550. I thought that was a terrific deal at the time, and I'm even more enthusiastic now about having bought the phone, since I'm still delighted with this device and thoroughly enjoying the incremental improvements of the recent upgrade to Android Pie 9.0.

You apparently didn't read my post. My girlfriend wants to get a Pixel 2 but doesn't want to trade her's in. Trade in was not required on this deal but I did anyway. I was asking if there have been any better deals that don't require trade in or bill credits.
