With the amazon market having SPC Music Sketchpad for free today I was begining to inquire what other music/drum machine apps there were and have come across 2 others, RD3 and Caustic.

My question is which app is the best? I'm becoming more and more interested in Caustic as most reviews say SPC is for children/noobs and Caustic is for more serious music enthusiasts with little to no mention of RD3 anywhere.

Anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

I've purchased RD3, Electrum, SPC (got it for free today too), ULoops, Caustic and Nanoloop, and by FAR, Caustic is where it's at. The dev is a really awesome guy and RESPONSIVE (answered my e-mail LITERALLY in like 10 minutes), and the app itself is a sequencer, synth AND drum machine all in one, for only $3.99. I would've gladly paid three times the price. I also hear Fruity Loops Mobile is on the way, but no word on when. But Caustic needs more exposure. It's really great. And it's polished and great looking to boot. Very professionally done.

Awesome thanks for the reply :). I downloaded the Caustic demo and can see the difference straight off in usability.

You're right Caustic has no hype but it an amazing program for the price. I'll be purchasing the pro version today.

Give G-Stomper a try. It's an Electribe like 11-Track Drum Machine with a powerful effect chain (3 processors, 17 effect types). Live Pattern Arranger, Song Mode, Motion Sequencing, Audio import/export, SoundCloud integration, and much more. Available at google market (free demo and full (paid) version).

I suggest Drummer Friend: is the most sophisticated preset and programmable drum machine.

Hey, if you're looking for a drum machine to give you the tempo, why not use Jellynote? That way, you can have the drum part while playing your track. You can change the tempo, the pitch, tune your instrument, and best of all: have a real time feedback on what your playing with the learning mode and practice mode.

Give it a try! ;)
