I have froyo frg22 on my rooted droid and wondered what is the best kernel to get for my phone. I mostly just want it for overclocking and I want it to hit at least 1.1-1.2. I don't usually run it that fast but I want to know I can if needed to. What do you suggest?

Depends on your phone I can say try this kernel. Though it may be great for me your Phone may hate it. Try Chevy's or p3's kernels I had the best luck with those

Where do I find chevy's? I tried a p3 but even running at 1ghz didn't seem like it was going fast.

You do know that you need to use the app called SetCPU to actually take advantage of a faster kernel right? either that or use a custom ROM like Bugless beast v0.4 that already has overclocking built in.

Yeah I already have it. I usually don't overclock it much more than stock but I like to know I can if I have to.

frg22 stock kernel

I installed SetCPU today after installing FRG22. I let it decide automatically what speeds were possible....it says I have up to 800 mhz. It is default set to 600 instead of 550. I thought I needed a custom kernel? Just thought I'd put that out there. Increasing to 800 certainly made some tasks faster, and 800 was all I wanted. I also got a 12 on linpack instead of the 8-9 I was getting before.

The stock Froyo kernel goes up to 800 but only with setcpu it defaults to 550 or so

When would you "need" to run at these ridiculously high speeds? I guess if your phone can handle it, go for it, but you will definitely experience much shorter battery life (i've tried it, even with profiles on setcpu, way way worse battery), way way way hotter phone, and any day now the innards will potentially melt.

All that said, if it makes you sleep better at night knowing you can do all of this, then by all means :)

Trust me you will mess up the battery prior to the CPU their will be shorter battery life trying to run at 1.2 or so I've been running at 800-950 battery life still sucks for me

I've always had good experiences with Chevy's uLv Kernels; I have the 1ghz right now, but choke it down to .8; I like having the extra .2 at the top just in case.
