Best launcher?

Hi Photons,

I am receiving my Photon tomorrow in exchange for my 3D. I have always heard horrible things about BLUR, or whatever it is currently called. I liked Sense and have used Launcher Pro in the past on my Epic. I was curious as to what everyone here uses on their Photon. I just want it to really be light, efficient and customizable.

Does Launcher Pro work well?

I've heard about Go Launcher, but is it true you cannot use scrollable widgets?

Big fan of Launcher Pro here. Also upgraded to the Photon from an Epic. LP was one of the first things I installed.

I'm using SPB Shell 3D and it is AWESOME!!! It's a little expensive at $14.95 but well worth it. If you like Sense 3.0, it's almost promised that you will enjoy it. Very responsive with less lag than orginal homescreen. Add the Agile lock to it and you have a brand new phone!

Love Go Launcher, can't comment on the scrollable widgets, don't think I use any. They seem to update twice a week at least so if it doesn't work they will prob correct it soon. Go Launcher EX is free so give it a try.

I use Go Launcher EX and you can use scrollable widgets.

Pure Calendar Agenda, Pure Grid Calendar and Pure Messenger widgets work perfectly with Go Launcher....

is there a launcher that uses 4 icon dock? like motoblur or samsung and LG phones? I tried ADW and Launcher Pro but they all use either 3 or 5, I'm looking for something to replace that ugly motoblur's dock with white background. it looks awfull with most dark wallpapers..

you know i actually really like helauncher 2 because it gives you a gingerbread,froyo, a few sense 3.0, motoblur,nija blur,touchwiz, and samurai style, another launcher thats good is called qqlauncher its a clone of miui launcher

i use Launcher Pro plus i changed the lock screen to Sense 3.0 lock screen with agile lock

I'm was using Go Laucher EX until I saw a youtube video on SPB Shell 3D and my jaws dropped. That launcher is truly incredible and IMO, well worth the price tag; if not more. A great deal of time & effort went into the creation of it and I'm a firm supporter of great apps.

i use go launcher ex and agile lock screen on my photon and i love it!

I think you'll find not blur to not be that bad. Just get rid of the ugly widgets.

I'm using something called Launcher 7 pro. It's like a WinPhone 7 clone. I love it. It's fast, elegant and really customizable. You can even add widgets to the tiles. Probably the best WinPhone 7 clone launcher out there.

Before that, I used Launcher Pro and really liked it. ADW X was OK, but I didn't think it was as good as Launcher Pro. As for the stock Moto Launcher, it's not so bad. I think they really toned it down with this phone. It's multitudes better than what you see on the Atrix.

I'm curious about all these launchers, but have no idea how you might choose one. What do they do different from the stock launcher? What do you like about them? Do they change the number of home screens, or how stuff sits on the screens?

fyi, I am using perfect task switcher, because it sort of kind of reproduces the cards of WebOS, and because it tells me what is actually open (and allows me to close stuff) and because it gets me back to the screen I left in K9 email (where I might have been in the midst of composing a note or something) instead of always returning to the home screen as the stock launcher seems to. (Actually, K9 seems to usually have two instances open, one the page I left, and the other a home page of sorts.)

But I have no clue what the rest of these do, or any real idea of how to find out.

Using Go Launcher now on my Epic, like it alot but I too saw the video on SPB Shell 3D and was impressed. Will likely get that when I get my Photon in 2 weeks. 15 bucks is alot but how important to your phone is your launcher? You will use this every day. You would also hope that a 15 dollar app gets tons of support.

hey have any of u guys try to use the kick stand to bring out the alarm clock out coz it only works with the stock launcher.. i have ;auncher pro plus it dont work on that one

Have been useing Spb Shell 3D for about a month and half, it is the best thing out there, bar none. The way you can customize it and have folders of apps, web sites, documents, etc. it is worth the $14.95 for me. Just wish they would come down on the price some. As of today they have had 8-9 updates since they came out with the Android ver. in March of this year.

I think a good launcher, one that blows away any other is worth 15 bucks easy. You use that many times every day.

If you don't want to spend it, Go Launcher EX is still real nice for a freebe.
