Anyone have an opinion about the best productivity suite for the xoom? Docs to go, quick office, other? I would like to edit as well as view files.

another down fall of a tablet that has its roots as a phone operating system. you would think Google would find a way to run ms office

I've been using Docs 2 Go for a long time. I also use Drop box to sync things back and forth to my home computers.

I use Doc to Go 3.0, and it works fine for me... I have the full unlocked version, not sure if that makes a difference but I am able to view my Google documents from here too. It works really well.

Been looking at this myself.
None of the three (OfficeSuite, QuickOffice, DocumentsToGo) have an update for Honeycomb available yet, so for now you're limited in your use of screen real estate.

QuickOffice has already demoed a tablet version. However when I contacted their support I was told it would not be available until summer, and would be a separate app. I contacted DataViz (DTG) about their plans to release a tablet update, but have not heard back yet.

QO and DTG both have free read only versions, while OS has a 30 day trial that allows for editing.

All seem to support Gdocs and the same file types (which strangely includes txt and doc but not rtf).

DTG seems to open files fastest.

Can anyone compare the editing capabilities for the three. What text formatting, alignments, columns, etc. are supporting on each? What excel formula functions are supported? What powerpoint editing functions are supported?

I wish there was a way to load docs (.doc, .xls, .ppt) directly into google docs. I read from someone that gmail has the option when clicking an attached doc to load directly into google docs but this is not available in my gmail on either my Xoom or my Fascinate.

DATA Viz support is HORRIBLE. I paid for the full key, had to uninstall, cant reinstall because I had not registered it yet and I did not have the key. App store does not remember I paid for it but it hit my credit card.

Ok no prob, ill call them - YOU CANT. They wont give you a number and if your problem isnt answered in faq's you have no recourse.

not sure if it's with every browser, but if you use the chrome browser
in gmail, click "view" instead of "download".

the attachment will open up in your google docs and you will have the option to rename & save it.

I use BOTH

they both have its advantages....for PDF's, word documents I use Doc2Go

For PPT's, XLS, I use quick office

Any new info on this front? I have the full version of D2G and it is sluggish and has a poor layout for honeycomb. They had a recent update that said they improved functionality for honeycomb, but I haven't seen mch difference.

Quick Office has a tablet dedicated version, but from what I have read about it so far it has issues and not worth the $17.

Are there any other decent options? Google docs online? Any chance MS will release MS Office for android :P

I use quick office. Yeah it was pricey but it works most of the time. The creator I build some pretty data intense excel sheets that error out while opening up. only issue for me.

Powerpoints and excel sheets: quick office

PDf's and word documents: Docs2Go

they are both good at different things

Word documents and PDF is what I mostly work with. I have found a PDF reader I love, but doc 2 go's interface is just horrible. I wish I had more time than just 15 to play with it.

which pdf reader do you love?

Well I ended up buying QuickOffice Pro HD off of the quickoffice site because they have a 30 day return policy and I think I can quickly sum up the office suite.

Very nice layout with a lot of ease of access to functionality. However, most of the basic, modern functionality you would expect from a document editor is missing, and I do mean most. Sure you can add a photo and edit your font, size, color and bold/italic, but there is no support for bullets and numbering, formating or even tabs. Why the suite has text to speech (great for proof reading btw) but not these basic features is beyond me. I have a ticket in asking if they plan on doing any upgrades to these features in the near future. If not I will be getting my $17 back.
