Hello everyone,

I am a frustrated new owner and in need of help. As a Windows PC user I am finding my Tab A 9.7 VERY difficult to use. Sorry, but I am not finding it easy at all to transfer files etc.

Rather than list my various difficulties, or submit several different posts, can someone offer a link to a clear and simple How To guide that I can read and learn from?

I am keen to master the device within a week before taking it on an overseas trip and hope someone here can answer my prayers, thanks,

Best Wishes to all,

Roger

Hi B. Diddy,

Thanks so much for the reply - wow, you have worked hard to compile such a comprehensive tutorial. I have only touched the surface but believe I will find lots to help me,

Thanks again,

Roger

Hi B. Diddy, it's me again!

Time is short while preparing for a trip away, and there is so much reading in the guide you have prepared! With a 20 hour flight ahead I am wondering if it is possible to save website to the Tab A to read off line.

If so, can you give me simple instructions on how to so that I can read it on the aircraft

Thanks very much, best wishes, Roger

Open the webpage in your tablet's browser, then tap Menu, and look for the Print option. You can create a PDF file of the page this way. Make sure you go to page 2 of the thread as well, and print that as a PDF.

Hi once more,

I know I am going to show up just how little I know about my tablet, but I have already admitted this! Thanks for the advice, but I cannot see a menu tab that will display the print option!!! I have found 'Show printable version' under Thread Tools but I cannot see a 'Menu' tab. Can you point me in the right direction, please. (I have looked on my tablet browser, and on my PC, in Internet Explorer and Chrome, but the Print tab eludes me.)

Rather than print a copy of the thread, I would prefer to save a copy on my tablet as a pdf or similar, so that I can read it in Flight mode on the plane. Is this possible?

Thanks for your ongoing assistance, best regards, Roger

Here is a link to the guide as a pdf that I placed on Google drive.

Sometimes it can be difficult save on a tablet as a pdf.

easier to do it on a PC or laptop by going to print and selecting save as Microsoft PDF. Then put it on Google drive or dropbox then move it to your tablet.

I should mention that when you go to it if you want it on your tablet for when you have no internet click the little download arrow and save to your tablet. Best is to have google drive app on your tablet and save it to that. If you save it to Chrome or Firefox you will have to make sure you don't close the tab you saed it to.

Thanks gtt1, I appreciate the help. I would never have thought of this method.

(Incidentally - I tried to reply to your PM twice, but do not think the replies went, sorry!)

I did get your PM.s I sent you one but could not tell it went so posted here as well. My PM sent file shows I have not sent any messages so wasn't sure.

OK Thanks, maybe the website has a problem with the PMs, as my Sent folder remains empty as well! (In fact I find typing anything in this forum quite frustrating as so many characters are missed out and have to be retyped, maybe it is because I have the PC doing too many things at once.)

As I recall, sent messages need to be set up through the desktop settings. They default as not saved.

Rogerbid, welcome to Android Central.

Gtt, thanks for helping out with the PDF file via a Drive link. Excellent idea.

Thanks gentlemen for your responses, all much appreciated and helpful to a total novice!

Thanks for the welcome, Gtt. So far I have had nothing but friendly and helpful replies to my queries!

Best wishes,

Roger

Thanks. Never even realized that option existed . I would have thought the default should be to save. Have changed mine to save.

Hello, I am in a very similar situation as Roger except that I am not travelling soon. I would really like to download the pdf of your Guide, to my Windows 10 Tablet to help my wife with her new Samsung Tab A. But your link to Google Drive (I have an account) has not worked. I either get a messaging saying 'that file does not exist' or a blank page with little more than "open with' to which there is no response.

Can you help with this?

I have the Samsung manual pdf on my PC but find it of very little use, so I was pleased to come across your excellent Guide.

You should be able to at least download it on your PC. After that, you can transfer it to your tablet if need be.

My link to the pdf on google drive https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2mg-040nP2tRDUyWTNwWlluU3c/view?usp=sharing should be accessible by anyone. Maybe do it on a PC, download and then upload to your Google drive account. Maybe the problem is on your windows 10 tablet. Can it view pdf files?
