Hello,

I would like to be able to select text on any web page on my Galaxy S8 and have the phone read the text back to me. I am currently on Android 9 software. Is this possible to do on this phone, and if so, what is my best option?

Please mention any external apps or workarounds if necessary. I have been trying to figure this out for some time.

Thanks for answering!

You're looking for something like JAWS for Android. AFB (https://www.afb.org/blindness-and-l.../assistive-technology-products/screen-readers) recommends a few, https://usabilitygeek.com/10-free-screen-reader-blind-visually-impaired-users/ lists free ones. (The AFB page is dense, so if you have a visual problem have someone read it to you.)

I don't think there's anything for Android that's as good as JAWS, but some of them may be usable.

(There are always Braille readers, or using a really large screen. See https://www.freedomscientific.com/products/lowvision/ or https://www.freedomscientific.com/products/blindness/)
