I have an s4 mini and the Gear 2 and am having a hard time using sHealth and the pedometer; are there other Fitness apps I can use to sync steps from my Gear 2?

Thank you,

Shane

i use a note 3 and gear 2...it seems like the built in pedometer on the watch and the s-health pedometer on the phone are not linked...i had them both running figured they synced up but the steps were nowhere near close...weird...anyone else experiencing that or know how to link them?

call me old fashioned but i feel like integration there would have made sense lol

It's supposed to be integrated but it's not. A month after its release, Samsung is still trying to figure out how to get it to work. The Samsung way it to sell at full retail beta units and then use all us full retail paying early-adopting schmucks to fine tune and fix their product. You're welcome, Samsung.

I use the watch only. Both for exercise and for the pedometer. I can read what I want to know from the watch. I have an S5, and the s health integration there is not much better than older phones. There is a sync, but since it is not realtime and since the watch and the phone have separate recordings, it is useless. I use endomondo on my phone for longer trips. Wish they could make a Gear integration.

I don't keep track of steps with the accelerator in the s4 mini, I only use the watch, are you saying you enabled Both and the #'s are not the same? I'm not surprised, I bet the watch on your arm and phone in your hand/ pocket have much different ranges of motion. I would use 1 or the other.

Mine is not getting the steps or syncing with s4 mini and s Health.

Gear manager ~ fitness mine links with pedometer on my Note 3. I only used the watch to calculate and it shows up on the Fitness with Gear app (sometimes it does not show on the first page, if I click pedometer then it's all there).

My watch paired with sHealth on my s4 and s5 but not the s4 mini but the s4 mini is getting the steps and syncing with the watch and "Fitness with Gear."

What is Fitness with Gear, why's that work but not s Health?

Steps were syncing from my gear 1 and 2 on the s4 and s5 but why aren't they in sHealth on the s4mini, I don't get what is different... the watch is connected but Sync Now fails. but they show up in Fitness. is it something I am doing wrong or software issue on the s4 mini?

Been using my gear2 and sgs5 for just over a week now and find the steps / distance confusing...on one day I walked 13000 steps and traveled 1.1 mil while on another I walked 8300 Steps but traveled 3.9 mil - how is this possible? / does the gear2 measure distance by gps/physical distance only, rather than the theoretical distance of the steps taken?

I would have guessed it was a calculation x steps = x distance. For me when I do 10,000 steps it is 5 miles.

Does anyone know what the difference is with Fitness for Gear built into Gear manager and sHealth?

Ton of difference between the apps. However depending on your phone, versions of shealth may not be compatible. Samsung is supposed ly working on a generic shealth app for all devices.

So should I just use fitness and the Widget for fitness step counter till sHealth is compatible with s4 mini?

Yes unless you are rooted and want to experiment ith the shealth from the s5 and modifying your build. Prop file. Doing that gets u a working shealth app but you lose the heart rate data.

In S Heath on my S5, I go into pedometer and click on the 3 dots setting tab upper right. From there, you can select device data to view and your watch will sync with the phone and reset daily.

Mine would do that on an s5, not on the s5 mini. (in s Health)
But it syncs fine with Fitness App.
