Best Place to Buy Dock

I got mine off of Newegg for the $150 but got free 3 day shipping.

Also the serial number was a B70 series that does not appear to have the drain issue so that's a bonus.

You can't even get a break through normal distribution. They are obviously in short supply

I can get it for free with amex points i have. Not sure i want/need it though.

You should get it.. it's really the main, and possibly the only reason to own the transformer.

It wasn't for me, at first I had no plans of getting the dock but then I had a short business trip come up that I didn't really want to take my laptop on but I thought if I had the keyboard I could at least do some work remotely and I found a good RDP app so I could connect to our terminal server.

But I do fully agree, if you can get the dock for free go for it. Its really nice to have, the battery life is awesome with the dock, still pretty good without too. Overall it just really depends on what you want to use the TF for, it just gives you options really.

Then I ask: Why in the world would anyone buy the transformer if not for the dock? If the dock didn't exist then it seems to me that the obvious choice would be the Samsung tab, Acer Iconia or Toshiba Thrive..probably the Samsung Tab

Edit: So you're saying that the dock is only worth it if it's free? I believe it's worth all of the $149...it allows for a great boost in battery life and of course adds the keyboard functions. Free is cool, but it's worth the cost

Beucase an Android tab is an Android tab... mostly. they are almost all tegra 2, with 1GB RAM, 10" LCD and 16-32GB of storage with MicroSD support and micro/mini.full HDMI support. Even the arguement of weight makes no sense as they are similar in weight. how it is distributed differs though. It really comes down to personal preference. Hold one, it feels good, buy it.

Personally, I bought the Asus with no intention of getting the dock. I went to Best Buy, picked them all up, played with them all and bought the one that felt and looked the best. Does having a USB sound cool? Sure, but will I ever really use it? probably not. I got ES File Explorer to pull files wirelessly from my PC OR I can plug in the cable to connect to my PC. I also have a 32GB MicroSD card in as well and I own a card reader along with 4 other 8GB cards, just in case. Over most of the others, the Asus has an awesome IPS screen and feels great in the hands. I love the arguement of "it's all plastic" too. What isn't now-a-days? It looks good and feels good. And who really cares? Do you plan to throw it or drop it? If the answer is yes, keep in mind they all can break. I have seen Xooms break from falls, a Galaxy tab screen crack from a fall and an Asus broken from a fall. For the price of the Asus, it is completely worth it.

But again... buying an Android tab comes down to personal preference. Not one of them is head and shoulders over the other, although I will argue the Asus is one of the best and is priced better than most! AND, you can always turn it into a laptop if you want! :)
