Hi,

I am visiting New York next week and I would like to remain always connected during my stay. So I intend to grab me one of those prepaid data SIM cards.
I currently use the global version of HTC One, which as far as I understand, does not support any of the US LTE carriers, which on its own, don't even offer prepaid LTE data plans. But I also own the iPad 3 and the global unlocked iPhone 5, which both support LTE and if there is an option to get prepaid LTE I'd gladly go for it.
So what is my best option for data, I think 1gb of data will be perfectly sufficient for my needs?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

Since this is the international version we are talking here. It will be on gsm and LTE. The cheapest plan prepaided you can get is from t mobile. They have a $30 prepaid plan that gives 100 minutes in talk time and 5gb of data at hspda 42 speed. Yes they have LTE and it is included on prepaid. That said NYC at the moment does not have LTE turned on by t mobile. All they have are a few test sites there.

What I'm not sure of is if you can get support for the intl one on their bands. I believe since NYC has done there 1900 band conversion for the iPhone 5 you should have support for it. They are turning the 1700 band that they currently use for hspda to LTE. From my understanding the intl one doesn't support 1700.

The other prepaid would be att, but their prepaid offerings cost a great deal more. Others here might have a better choice. Have fun in the city.

Thank you for the information. I am thinking of sticking the card into my iPad and use it as a hotspot when needed.
