One of the main reasons I had always planned to get this phone for myself & my wife was so that I could video call from anywhere over LTE and see my new baby boy at home during my workdays. I am fortunate to be in a widespread LTE market in Orange County, CA.

Since it sounds like we're at least a few weeks out (based on comments from BMX) until some form of video capable Skype calling comes to the market, I'm wondering if anyone truly cay tell me what the next best runner-up video calling app would be ? I'm hoping something out there already checks how fast your internet connection is currently, and bases the video quality on that, instead of toning it down since it's not on Wi-Fi, and assumes you're at 3G speeds.

If your from Orange County, CA your probably fortunate regardless :p

I'm also wondering about skype, and if they just completely gave up on it..

I thought I read somewhere that Skype is in the works for Android devices in general as far a video calling goes. Not sure though cause I have never used an Android device before.

Skype will be there eventually... A week, a month, etc. Who knows?

I've got a great idea..................
Let's start a new thread on the "Launch Date" of Skype for the TB, and see if we can get it up to over 7000 posts!!! :D

I heard there is a skype video apk floating around from the new incredible dump floating around..? Maybe that will work..?

Tango works. I also really like Fring. Then there's oovoo which lets you video chat phone to phone or phone to pc. There's also google talk.

Tried tango on my xoom ... it was ok but to really use video chat I need a service that the folks I want to video with are on. We may be waiting for a while for the Skype update. My guess is that if they are updating ipad will be first.

I just checked the Skype web page and they said the video version is coming soon for verizons 4G lte network and you can even sign up for email updates. So it looks as if they haven't given up on it!!!

thanks! yeah, looks like the Tbolt (image, no mention of name) is there :-)

i just looked for it and found the link and entered my info for them to remind me:
Remind me later about Skype mobile?

What would be a good app for video calling a Verizon iPhone from a Thunderbolt? Not familiar with iPhone apps as much. Thanks.

agree with sub-dawg my galaxy tab & iphone4 to wife and daughter both and its a decent app. Has some hicups and learning curve, but with patience is a decent way to videochat!!!

ok so if i use tango to call my friend that has an iphone, but he/she doesnt have tango.. then its a fail?

I will say this.. I actually enjoy Tango, works rather well until the Skype build gets completed...

Fring looks like crap on the bolt... not sure if it was the user (on wifi) or whatever but it looks like some low def grainy mess...
