Best settings for a stock S3? Also, what can safely be put on the SD card?

I've had the S3 since it came out last year, but it's now with Samsung, hopefully being fixed. It's been too long for my old brain to remember the best settings for maxing my battery life, etc. I could use some help - can't find a post that gives directions.

Also, are most apps safe to install on the SD card? Should certain apps stay in the phones' internal RAM?

I'd like to be ready to get everything put back right when the phone arrives.
