Or is there a camera app that will yield better quality pics ? The pics it takes are not bad but it is below the quality of the Galaxy S3 and iPhone 4S/5. I've had the phone for a couple of weeks but just now getting around to using it. Thanks

You know camera is part of hardware, not software right? Only thing you can have it filters.

Not so. How the camera is controlled is by software. Programs like FV-5 offer more control over how flash is used and options for less compression.

The hardware is quite good, it's the software side of things that is lacking. Google does not put much effort into developing its image capturing technology.

Camera zoom FX yields better pictures for me because of the ability to control ISO and other parameters.

Camera zoom fx is great, but you will also notice that if you hold down the shutter button until the camera focuses then releasing the button, you will get better results. Especially with the flash.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give Camera Zoom FX a shot. For the person that say's it's hardware only, that's incorrect. I would prefer to be able to increase things liker sharpness and exposure/saturation in-camera rather than using software to fix it post shot.

When taking photos outside...always use the "cloudy" white balance setting. The colors will be much more vivid and sharper. Also, hold down the "capture" button for a few seconds to let the camera adjust the exposure, etc.

Also, the N4 has a pretty decent postprocessing suite. Select the photo you want to edit in the gallery, select the smal three circle icon in the bottom left of the screen, adjust as needed.

Nice. Thank you
