Welcome to Android Central! Maybe look for a refurbished or scratch & dent Pixel 3a or 4a on a site like Daily Steals or Woot. Those might be sold for <$150, have the great Pixel camera, are reasonably small compared to the big flagships of today, and have decent performance. I have a Pixel 3a XL, and its performance is totally fine for my use.

EDIT: Here's a scratch & dent Pixel 3 on Woot for $85: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...x-9?ref=w_cnt_lnd_cat_elec_2_4&token=wCUG10HO. Battery life on the Pixel 3 wasn't great, but the overall performance will be better than the 3a.

Here's a refurb Pixel 4a for $199 at Daily Steals: https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...-fhd-128gb-ram-4g-lte-gsm-nfc/&token=1RzLachf. A little above your price range, but I think it'd be worthwhile, considering how well-regarded the 4a is, and that it's still getting updates through Nov 2023.

Pixel 3XL renewed on Amazon is $150. You get 90 days to make sure everything is running fine, so there's zero risk. No more updates, no more security, but damn is it snappy for daily use. It's also got a camera that gives modern phones a run for their money. Real talk, I still have mine, and if it wasn't for the lack of security updates, it would still be my daily driver. It's still relevant because it still gets unlimited storage saver photo uploads for free.

I think Samsungs cheapest phone fits that price but it isn't going to have snappy performance or a great camera, in fact no real cheap smartphone has a great camera.

The great camera set ups are on a flagship phone and cost the manufacturers over $100 for the camera hardware alone.

Bring the budget up near $300 and you can get a solid phone with good battery life and decent performance, but camera will still be mediocre.

Only until January 31 according to GSM arena. Also may not apply to second hand. But still a good phone.

Same with the 4, which I just picked up today from Amazon renewed for $200 =). I forgot how nice it was to use a phone isn't a phablet. Unlimited storage saver for pictures 16mp or smaller means there's basically no quality lost on the Pixels with lifelong photo storage due to them all having 12mp shooters.
