Anyone have any opinions on which sms app is the best? I just factory reset my tb and my battery runs great with go sms comp or handset. However I'm not to fond of stock sms... Do any of these contribute to more battery drain than normal?

Well anything you use is gonna drain battery sms in general. I've used go sms, handscent, and chomp sms. I think I like go or hanscent the best, but I prefer the sense ui sms (stock) because I've never owned an HTC phone and I absolutely love the stock ui

I really like Go SMS Pro. It's really customizable and very responsive. I didn't care for the stock app only because of how plain it looked.

I prefer GO myself, it's more customizable in my opinion and I didn't like the look of Handcent at all.

I liked the stock Sense SMS app, but it doesn't play well with Swype for some odd reason. Handcent doesn't look nearly as polished, but it works. I guess I'll have to give GO SMS or Chomp a try.

Another Go SMS Pro here. I think the Pro is still recommending having both Go SMS loaded in addition to the Go SMS Pro.

I love Handscent with swype, but I haven't tried some of the other good ones.

It only recommends not removing the stock app. You only need Pro. Plus, the regular version isn't available anymore anyway.

i like the stock sms....i just wish it had an option to unlock the screen for a few seconds after receiving a text because it does get annoying unlocking my phone every 2 seconds when im having a conversation.

I prefer Handcent only because it plays nice with Launcher Pro. GoSMS does not allow you to use the text count on a launcher pro dock.

+1 for Go SMS Pro...
Just swithed from Handcent, and I couldn't be happier!

I personally use Handcent.

The biggest reason why I use Handcent over the stock SMS app is because it will split and send messages over 160 characters.

I can't comment on other SMS apps for Android, though, because I've only used the stock app and Handcent.

Having said that, I personally like Handcent and, until something better comes along, I'll most likely keep using it.

Just my 2 cents.

I tried Handcent for a while, but then switched to Go SMS Pro. I'm sticking with Go.

(on a semi-related note, I also tried that newish predictive keyboard AI type and that didn't work well with Go, so I deleted the AI type. It's in beta so maybe I'll try it again in the future. I'm using the Gingerbread keyboard with the Go SMS pro right now and that is working great for me)

just fyi, Go SMS pro will split the messages as well.

I started with stock for a few weeks... then loaded Handcent after hearing about it from some Swype keyboard users... I added the Handcent Metal skin... and I've not found the need to look any farther.

I'm also a big fan of Handcent.

I think it looks great on the TB!
