Lookout seems to be on top of the latest malware & viruses...at least from what I read in the media & forums. It is free and has some additional features including backup & find your phone app.

I use Lookout & am quite happy with it. (fwiw)

Pro version isn't bad either. It's $30 for a year and it includes backup pictures and contacts, remote lock and some other features.

Lookout, period.

Currently trying out the premium trial and I must say that having backups of my pictures is comforting to know. I also like it how it scans apps as I install them and lets me know if they have any malware.

One of the great features about LOOKOUT: You shouldn't have to get the premium plan unless your phone is totally lost or stolen. If it is stolen, then, if needed, you can get Premium plan and immediately lock down your phone or do a complete data wipe. The AV component seems to be in the headlines frequently as being one of the 1st security plans to report the latest virus or malware. The "Find My Phone" feature is great, especially if you are in the habit of falling asleep on the couch with your DroidX and then upon awaking saying to yourself, "damn, where is my phone" ;-)

It depends on the user, if you download only from the market, no need to worry, if you download from all over the internet, then you have something to worry about.

Lookout here as well because I havent learned enough of other suites that you can get from the market like AVG etc. All Lookout scans is apps but does it scan downloads from the net, or monitor your net connection for intrusions?

lol I have no need for such a silly battery eating app.

Lookout only runs when you install a new app or when you manually set it to scan apps for malware, it doesnt constantly run int he background and I have not seen any battery changes since I've been using it.

The only time I see it munching away on the battery is while backing up pictures. Even then you should have it plugged into a power source.
