Best VR headset for the Note 8?

I'm trying to decide whether to get the $130 headset from Samsung or the $100 Daydream VR 2. I'm leaning toward the Daydream because it works with HBO and seems to be more comfortable to wear. Plus it doesn't appear I would need to take the case off the Note 8. Is there anyone using the Note 8 with the old or new daydream that can share their experience?

I've never used the daydream so I'm interested to see what people think but I've always enjoyed the gear VR. Keep in mind though you need the note 8 version of gear VR.

I've used the Gear VR on an S7 edge and a daydream on my Note 8.

I'd prefer the daydream because YouTube and some VR games are better on the daydream. YouTube on VR isn't that great... too many steps to go to the 360 deg view.

And daydream is cheaper and easy to use.

VR... the biggest disadvantage is having to remove the case each time before use.

Can you play Gear VR games with The Daydream? VR Noob here.

Edit - if I run thge gear vr app while my note8 is in the daydream, will that work?

Unless the title has put out a daydream compatible version, No. Gear VR might have more game titles. I dont play games though. I use it only for video

I checked out HBO GO online and their site states the VR app is only compatible with the pixel phones and Motorola phones. Has anyone had luck getting the Note 8 to work with HBO in VR?
