Best way to backup photos before flashing a new ROM?

I'm planning on flashing Android Revolution, however I want to make sure I preserve my photo gallery as it is. I've tried backing up my photos to my computer (Mac) and then dragging them back to my phone after flashing a rom, but for some reason this messes up the Zoes and dates of events, etc in my gallery. Is there a simple way to preserve my photo gallery as it is after I flash a new ROM?

Zoe can't be backed up and still preserve the proper meta data to keep them Zoe

As long as you dont wipe the sdcard your photo's wont go anywhere.

Back them up to a computer hard drive or a sd card.
