Hi! I broke down and ordered a Note 9 512 that should arrive from Verizon today. I've moved from Android phone to Android phone a bunch of times, and it's always been a massive amount of work getting the apps I like and setting Nova Launcher up just how I like it. Is there a migration app that is worth trying?
This time, going from a 64GB Note 8 to a 512GB Note 9, I don;t care much about being selective with apps...like to just get all of them and my data across then pull the SD card and plug it in.
Thanks for any tips including how to set the Google Play Store to download all my apps.

I actually used the Nova back up and Google restore. Between those 2 items, my phone was over 80% done for me. However, I never bring over all the apps over to a new phone. I take the opportunity to do a sorting cleaning. Plus, outside of Nova and SwiftKey, I like to give all the new stock things a whirl.

You likely have cloud backups with Samsung, Google as well. And perhaps Verizon has one. There's option to clone from 8 to 9 over your wifi network.

I still end up with an intense day or three, then gradually tapers off. But does it ever really stop?

SmartSwitch. Just put the phones side by side, run SmartSwitch, wait for 15min-2hrs (depending on how much data there is to move). After that, everything is moved. The phone has been essentially cloned except for apps that deny SmartSwitch permission to access their data. All your messages, pictures, documents, call logs, settings, saved passwords, etc., all of them will have been transferred. Including homescreen setups if you were using the stock Samsung Experience launcher.

I use Nova Prime and went from a Note 5 to a Note 8 and used Smartswitch with the cables and adapter that came with the Note 8. The only hiccup at all I had was a couple of widgets on a few of the home screen pages had to be deleted and re-added. Piece of cake - very, very smooth!

Good to know! My Note 9/512 is sitting in one of my Samsung wireless charging cradles/pads now charging. I am looking forward to a fast new phone. Seidio Surface case and holster should be here tomorrow....that just leaves the screen protector to be procured and applied.

Smart switch fast and easy. It pretty much migrates every thing over including your homescreen and ringtones ect

I have to say after migrating/upgrading probably 12 Android phones over the years, including Note 4, Note 5, Note 7 (!), Note 8 and now Note 9, this was the easiest and most complete migration! Backing up my home screen and launcher settings with Nova Launcher Prime capped it off. Smart Switch worked great with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and passwords. Really good experience.:D

Anyone use Smart Switch to come from another phone? Looking at moving from an LG G6.

I haven't but the only issue I'm seeing is if you used LG native apps, and Samsung doesn't recognize their formatting, so those app's data may not be transferred.

I've never transferred from one Samsung to another what's the best way to make sure your secure folder stuff etc transfers over?
