Better Photo & Video app?

I just got a new Moto Z3 and don't like the Photos app. It's tossing all kinds of stuff onto the screen, including some apparend cloud save stuff going back to 2012, and jumbling up the Alblums with People, Places, Things...on top.

I either need a way to get rid of all that, or get another app that will JUST have what I WANT in it, which is, for example, an Alblum for my Martial Arts Material Videos, a Martial Arts photo alblum, and an alblum for our bird photos and videos. That's it. No mess.

SO can I configure the mess out of it? ( this is like someone choosing my pizza toppins for me! ) Or do I need a new app?

With Google Photos, when you go to the Albums section, the top will always show the People & Pets, Places, Things, etc. -- that's Google Photos AI-powered categorization. The next section is for the various folders on the phone (as opposed to photos you've saved to Google Photos in the cloud). Next are you your own albums, which you can set up however you want. Remember that the main Google Photos screen will be a combination of all photos you've backed up to your Google Photos in the cloud, as well as any photos currently saved to your phone's camera roll (i.e., /DCIM/Camera).

It looks very nice so far, but they're kind of cryptic on how much it is to register it and stop the ads.

It did away with all the Google junk, which I didn't realize was because I was using the Google photo app. Duh.

Now I'd like to figure how to download and delete everything they have, and stop it from being backed up to Google's cloud.

I don't see any way to select all, and download.

Thanks B Diddy! I downloaded everything and deleted it, and also deleted the Google photo app! It was, unbeknownst to me, keeping personal selfies that I took of myself, using my CELL phone camera, and storing them in their cloud, without me even knowing it - going back to 2012! BAD! I don't trust them anymore!

I deleted everything from the Google Photo, but don't want to use it anymore because of its behavior. So I installed one called Photo Gallery, but it wouldn't tell how to get rid of ads, which made it very annoying, though I LIKED the app!

So I need a good photo app - preferably photo AND video, which is either free without ads, or I can register for some nominal price, like $1, and get rid of the ads? Anyone?
