BGR: Your Epic 4G Questions Answered!

What's up with the notification light being red? only one color when we have video evidence of different colors?

Also unlike the captivate and vibrant you can't really customize things nearly as much is what I am reading there, and that makes like no sense to me. I guess rooting solves all of these annoyances though. right?

I don't trust BGR, I don't really think they know what they are talking about. I've seen mulyi-color LED on this phone, I also know it does hdmi out through the usb port. Maybe they should have done a little research before they answered questions.

Well, if they are saying customizable grid isn't available... then I don't know how one can change the icons at the bottom (without having played with this new version).

The test unit I had (from 3-4 weeks ago) had all Samsung Galaxy S goodies on it (The Sims, Avatar, Asphalt 5) including the music player and customizable grid. It does seem like this release version is going to be "different" (and I don't mean that in a good way either).

At least they are answering some real questions- maybe the differences with the captivate etc with regard to customization and some of the widgets has to to with it having touch wiz "2.5"?

Welp... It is a different version of TW. Just found out... they had to "change" some features to make it work on a landscape screen. The unit I used never went to landscape from the home screen when the slide out keyboard was used.

I still think that this touchwiz 2.5 must be on there for some reason related to the GPS.

If I'm right, this gives me hope that there is a possible software fix...

So basically they had to removew software features for the slide out keyboard and could probably add them back in over time, like in 2.2, at least they COULD not to say that they will. Right? Thanks for getting more information.

I was just watching an unboxing video on YouTube and the unit he was using was trying to download a system update. I wonder what that could have been. The video was from thedroidguy.com that was put up about an hour ago.

The info I was given was that since Sprint wanted a qwerty slider (offered as a possible feature by Samsung) that they had to rewrite TW to work with it, but it would have taken too long. Instead, the frameworks that weren't compatible were yanked out and it was made compatible. The model I used had working GPS with the full TW.

They can say anything they want ;) . My person isn't sure if they are working on making TW3 and Froyo for the Epic work...

Well F that noise. Get that dang music player and lock screen in there. Who cares if those two things don't go landscape?

Maybe they had to leave some programas off (daily briefing, samsung music player) since the internal memory is so low. They had to cut corners to make room for the Sprint apps?

damn shame. First Sprint charges $50 more than they should, NOW we have a dumbed down Galaxy S with no FM, daily briefing, etc.. seriously what's the internal space of a 2gb drive compaired to a 1gb drive. my guess is the same, only $3 more.

but then again how many of us would REALLY use FM on the device, although the daily briefing app, I think I might would have used that, won't stop me from buying the device and if I don't like it, it's ebay baby...

This BGR article the is best example of a blog jumping the gun, offering questions it's not prepared to answer.. what a useless list...

Makes sense. I'm assuming the other features will be landscapified in the future.

Wait... WHAT???

I didn't hear about the no FM radio... is the radio in there- just the app isn't?

That's kinda a big deal for me.

The bigger issue is why is this an issue for the slider only phones- all phones have a landscape screen based keyboard.

I have a larger problem with them ripping out features of the phone rather than just disclaiming not all features are applicable in landscape format. As long as all TEXT input opportunities are.

I'm with you. I was hoping for the FM radio as I actually used it in my iPod Nano.
