Big texting issue! Help!!!

I have the LG Optimus V from Virgin Mobile. I've only had it for a few days. I've been trying to send text messages to a number in my contact list, but the messages are being sent to a completely different number I've never seen before. My message will show in my thread as being sent to the correct number, but then I get a text from a random number and people are getting upset and confused and I'm getting frustrated because I can't communicate with the people in my contacts. Sometimes my messages go through correctly and other times they don't. How can I fix this?

If you have not rooted the phone, I would call Virgin Mobile about it. I am no expert, but there may be a system problem.

definately sounds like a software bug. if your phone is totally stock and youve never rooted it or anything like that, get virgin to replace it for you. should be no big deal. these things happen.

they definately dont all have this problem and this is the first I'm hearing of it, theres a very high likelihood your replacement OV will be problem free.

Had this happen to me one time back when I was on Sprint. After they tried a few different things they had to end up giving me a new number in order to fix it. Never got an explanation as to why it was happening but changing the number fixed it.
