Bixby - useful or not? Not sure how to get things set up

I have watched videos on Bixby. I want to try it. But right now I am frustrated with it and feel like I am just spinning my wheels.

I must have missed an initial setup procedure because all I have now are screens of things to see, then if I try to "See what Bixby has to offer" it just tells me things, or shows videos of what you can do. But nowhere do I see a settings place so I can use a wizard to actually set it up for my voice or get it to do what I need. I end up getting responses, "Hmm, I am not sure how to help you with that."

I tried going into the app settings and clear the data in the hopes a new wizard would appear to help walk me through things. But that hasn't worked. So in short, I am about to just turn the button off on Bixby.

Any help would be appreciated because I have not found a video yet or instructions to help guide me. It is like I know people can swim, I have a swimming app on my device, but when I go to it, I find I am already in the water. Videos tell me how I could do all these swimming strokes but nowhere does it show me how to do a swim stroke. It is very frustrating.

Are you referring to Bixby, Bixby voice, Bixby routines? I use Bixby, BUT, I am not one of those people you see constantly talking to a smart speaker. I use it when driving and I need to make a call, or use Google Maps for navigation.

HI dkpcowboy. Yes, I am referring to Bixby in general. It sounds like the things you use it for, I use either through my car navigation and calls system, or I can use through Google. It seems to me that there just doesn't seem to be that great a need for Bixby unless I have devices I want to turn on by my voice. Otherwise, everything seems to already be there for me via Google stuff. But if there IS more to it than that, I need some direction on how to unlock those features (whatever they may be) since right now I have no clue how to set it up.

Had everything I could, that relates to Bixby turned off on my phone.
Know Samsung has spent millions on Bixby.
Hope they don't think Bixby will take over google.

siglerm, outside of Android, the only Google products I use are Maps and Search. I was, once upon a time, a "pure android" guy (Nexus 4-6). However, not a particular fan of Google itself. There are a number of things you can do with Bixby IF you're involved in their ecosystem (email, messages, calendar, reminder, smart tv/appliances). Sounds like you're not that deep into it. Do what you like and what you know. (my 2 cents)

Yeah, i think the only reason to use Bixby is if, like dkpcowboy, you don't want to use Google assistant for whatever reason or are just a big Samsung fan (I doubt my LG C9 or Sonos speakers will ever add it to their repertoires).

I use it on my watch, and it along with other services like Google Pay are the only reasons i consider switching to Wear OS (it grinds my gears that the NFC on my watch is literally useless).

Hahaha, that's amazing! Don't usually click random links, but I'm glad I'm bored enough to have made an exception! Thanks!

Second video is wrong though... Bixby is forth after assistant, Alexa and Siri lol.
