It might be damaged somehow. I haven't seen something like this before though, so I don't know. :-( Hopefully someone else can chime in or you can try a replacement device.

It could be a speck of dust on the back of the lens, casting a shadow on the sensor.

It may somehow have gotten dirty in the inside! Take it back asap!

I am a true believer in returning anything you paid money for that does not operate per design.
Take it back.

My phone does that too. I sometimes take pictures I se a little tiny dot when I take them. Then the next day there's no dot...weird.

"First there is a mountain, then there is no mountain, then there is".

I do apologise, isabelle, but your post reminded me of that lyric. :)
Users of film cameras would occasionally find small animals moving about in the viewfinder....tiny crawling minibeasts that had somehow got into the viewing system of a single-lens reflex camera. I had that happen once myself. Hopefully your tiny dot is inanimate. :)

Likely a debris on the sensor from the manufacturing process - a spec on the senor. Cleaning the lens won't make a difference.

Check lens cover glass. I had small dent in glass. Same effect. Managed to polish it out but new cover is dirt cheap and you can change it your self in 5 mins..
