black out screen

Im ready to throw this phone out of a moving vehicle. Ever since I first got it i have had every problem imaginable. I cant even txt or make phone calls. Isnt that the whole point of having a phone ? I thought smart phones had the simple things down already but they are worse. My phone every time it goes into sleep mode will not turn back on. The screen will just stay black no matter what i do. I have to take the battery out every time !!! Now the volume control button broke off. When i make a phone call my screen shuts off so i cannot end the call or delete voicemails or anything. This is the most frustrating problem i have ever had with a phone. Please help me.

Factory reset and if that doesnt help any I would get a new phone. I had the inspire for a couple months and it gave me mostly trouble. Battery issues was what pished me over the edge.
