Black Screen - Camera

All has been well with my DX until I went to use the camera and all I got was a black screen. Reboot, battery pull, format SD, removed and reinstalled Vignette, hard reset and still get the black screen in camera/video/barcode scanner apps. Did some research and it sounds like a fairly common occurrence with the mechanical shutter becoming stuck. Anyone else with a similar problem? Called VZW and they are shipping me a "like new" DX. I know about VZW and their 30 day policy but if there is a 1 year warranty from Motorola, why do I get a refurb instead of NIB?

If your outside your 30 days you get a refurb. Nature of the beast, doesn't matter the manufacturer or the type of object. A warranty promises that they will repair your unit. A Refurb is a repaired unit.

Not directed at the OP, but people need to get used to this. For all practical purposes, a refurb should be MORE reliable than a new phone. Verizon's policy will not change, and they very rarely make exceptions. Fact of life.

That sucks indeed. I had this happen to me once with my camera, but I guess it got unstuck somehow and it hasn't reared its ugly head since... lets pray for my sake it doesn't
