Black text in the notification shade

I'm not sure why, but sometimes the text for the notification turns black when I pull the shade down. This is, of course, impossible to read against the dark grey background. Is there a reason it's doing this and is there a way to change this behavior?

It's because the item is in progress. For instance a download will be in dark grey until it completes.

Yeah but... no one noticed that's the same color as the shade background?

I hadn't noticed. Although, by the sounds of it, it's likely because I couldn't see it in the first place.
